Introduction The human resource function is an important aspect in the insurance industry. With the recent advancement in the various industries, including insurance, it is important that the HR function evolve with these developments to guarantee success of companies in this industry. The HR role is becoming more challenging and demands a more strategic approach to cope with the competition that is being experienced in various industries. The scope of this report is to discuss the human resource function at AXA. It will first analyze AXA s HR in terms of business strategy, external and internal environment, challenges, and propose how to improve strategic management of people. Business Strategy The turbulent nature of the world s economy has destabilized many industry s operations. This also led to a swift evolution of the habits and needs of the clients. AXA s business strategy in dealing with this evolving demands lies in the way the company manages its employees. AXA considers its employees to be the keystone of success and has thus heavily invested in them. AXA has over 166,000 employees the world over. The HR department emphasizes on diversity, and loyalty of the employees.
